Explore the current Gender Equality Action Plan (GEAP) for all VCET venues, including Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre and Nyaal Banyul Geelong Convention and Event Centre.
Our venues are more than spaces for events. They are places where every person is welcomed and valued. For decades, at Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC) we’ve opened our doors to visitors from across the globe, and in doing so have been privileged to welcome a diverse workforce that’s reflective of our community. The same will be the case for our new venue Nyaal Banyul Geelong Convention and Event Centre (Nyaal Banyul).
That’s why it is our responsibility to ensure every individual feels safe, respected, and empowered to thrive. Gender equality is at the heart of this commitment. It’s not just about representation, it’s about creating an environment where all genders have equal opportunity to lead, contribute, and succeed. Our Gender Equality Action Plan (GEAP) 2026-30 will help work toward that commitment.
Driving that mission is our leadership team, sponsored by the Trust through the People and Culture Committee. We are working to embed gender equality principles at every level of our organisation. The unique perspectives and lived experiences of our people make us stronger, more creative, and better equipped to deliver the bold, unconventional experiences that define us. Together, we can set a new standard for our industry, where equality isn’t aspirational, it’s expected.

VCET proudly operates MCEC and Nyaal Banyul. With over 30 years of industry experience, we’ve helped position Victoria as a global events destination. Through world-class exhibitions, conferences, galas and concerts, we facilitate meaningful dialogue, attract investment, and contribute to pioneering research and policy development.
As a key driver of Victoria’s economy, we generate $800 million in economic impact annually, employ nearly 1,000 people at peak periods, and support local businesses through our supply chains. We’re also deeply committed to social impact, providing more than $2 million in in-kind support to charities each year, championing causes such as children’s health, environmental sustainability, and food security.
We acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the lands on which we operate our venues in Narrm and Djilang; the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung and Wadawurrung peoples. We pay our respects to Elders past and present and seek to honour the long-standing tradition of building community and exchanging ideas on these lands. We extend that respect to the broader Kulin Nations and the Traditional Owners of all First Nations communities across Victoria and Australia.
